Hello Pinner!

Remember, if you have any other dental-related questions, please email me at smile@pinnerdentalcare.co.uk or pop in and see me anytime!
Guided Biofilm Therapy, or more commonly known 'Air Polish', is a professional dental cleaning method that uses a combination of air, water, and fine powder (such as erythritol or bicarbonate) to remove surface stains, plaque, and biofilm. It's a gentle yet effective way to restore the natural whiteness of teeth without damaging enamel, making it ideal for stain removal caused by coffee, tea, red wine, and smoking.
Yes, it is completely safe and a more comfortable
alternative to traditional scaling method which some patients may find uncomfortable. This method is called Guided Biofilm Therapy, where the clinician can effectively remove 100% of the plaque biofilm without damaging your existing crowns and fillings which may sometimes happen with traditional hand scaling. It also makes it more suitable for patients with hyper sensitivity and receding gums.
Routine dental hygiene visits help prevent gum disease, tooth decay, and staining. Plaque and tartar buildup can lead to bad breath, gum inflammation, and even tooth loss if left untreated. Most people benefit from a professional cleaning every 6 to 12 months, but those with higher risks of gum disease may need more frequent visits. Regular appointments keep your smile looking fresh and healthy.
